Picroformol according to Bouin solution (Bouin fixative) is a formaldehyde-based fixative solution with the addition of Acetic acid and Picric acid.
Suitable as primary fixative for the histological specimen procedures; it is specific for delicate cellular tissue conservation.
The tissue assumes a yellow staining; this staining can be removed with 70% alcohol, lithium carbonate and other staining acid treatments.
