Papanicolaou stain is a polychrome stain for cytological specimens. The method is based on a nuclear stain aqueous base and two cytoplasmic stains alcoholic-base. Hematoxylin is normally used for blue staining of nuclei, OG6, and EA50 solution as cytoplasm dyes.
